I want a pair of these pair of shoes either!

“Rye Shoes”* i made it up, i mean the name ;)

I've read "Catcher in the Rye" twice and i'm glad that i have. I met Holden when i was a freshman and i loved him when i was a senior. First of all i have to say that a book must be read in its own language if possible. The reason is all obvious as you know, there are academic explanations by linguists but you can find the answer easily by comparing any word. e.g. "Red" and "Kırmızı" you know what the connotations and associations do.

I have recommended the book for so many and also bought it as birthday presents but i couldn't get back what i expected. Well, the reason is clear as i mentioned before; the arid taste that the translation leaves behind but it's also that they didn't hear him from Barıs Hoca :) Right, i know! not everyone may have the chance to but what i mean is that those who don't like the book lack (i will not say "imagination", im listening to what Madonna sings thus avoding the cliche:) the life itself! It's all about us, we, humans. It's the littlest things we come across everyday; boring teachers, phonies, hot-shots (loser-to-be), freaking parents, girls, boys, the mystery and dilemma of sex & love, fears, games, competitions, childhood issues, acnes etcetera etcetera... If you listen to what i say the "book-life"* should be enjoyed!

Here are some quotes from "Cather in the Rye" but i could't find one of my favourite. It was about talking, the situation that when someone is too hot to talk about something why always the other one is not. Anyway let's take a look at them;)

It's funny. All you have to do is say something nobody understands and they'll do practically anything you want them to.

If a girl looks swell when she meets you, who gives a damn if she's late? Nobody.

All morons hate it when you call them a moron.

How long should a man's legs be? Long enough to touch the ground.

The worst thing that being an artist could do to you would be that it would make you slightly unhappy constantly.

am i not right?

non-be-liev-er

I've met a woman,
today.
"Seriously," said she
bending over me,
whispering,
uncovering
yet carelessly!
"I don't believe in,
the existence
of microbe"
"oh" i smiled while
talking about
the past..
